No stage, lighting, or microphone, the “Hors les murs” (HLM) troupe from the Chaoué d’Allonnes theater, near Le Mans, is playing outdoors this Sunday, May 8. The setting will be the family gardens of La Simonière, owned by the city. It rents the plots to individuals.
In the middle of garden rectangles more or less well maintained, the four actors of the HLM troupe will take turns to produce a committed piece. They denounce the growing urbanization according to them.
The comedian and slammer Alex, also called HDW, declaims a text where he repeats “the city is getting closer”. “We know very well that the city is expanding: there are lots of buildings, homes. We wonder how far it will go. Will the blue planet turn gray entirely?”
A play where we can react
The spectators can answer this question, the director, Maxime Pichon, encourages them to do so. “You really have to constantly adapt to the terrain that surrounds us and which is constantly changing: a car passing by, a passer-by calling out to us. We want that to appear in the restitutions.”
“We don’t come to put on a show just to put on a show between us. We come to show something and it’s important that people take ownership of it.”
Four performances will take place this Sunday, May 8 afternoon at 2, 3, 4 and 5 p.m. Reservations must be made with the Chaoué theater d’Allonnes at 02.43.80.40.08.
