On Saturday May 7, left-wing activists for the new popular, ecological and social union met. They celebrated the agreement reached in view of the legislative elections of June 2022.
The rebellious, the communists, the socialists and the environmentalists met on Saturday May 7 to seal their union in view of the legislative elections of June 2022. In an enthusiastic room, 1,500 sympathizers came to encourage this agreement. The logo of the new popular, ecological and social union was also unveiled on this occasion. “We are young people from the 2000s, 2010s, we have never seen so many left-wing forces united on a national scale and that is something important”says an activist.
“I really think, it can lead to very beautiful things in the legislative elections”, adds a woman. Fabien Roussel (PCF), Julien Bayou (EELV), Olivier Faure (PS) are on stage. The latter targeted Emmanuel Macron, sworn in as president on the same day. Some Socialist Party executives reject this coalition and present dissenting candidates. “Those who present candidates against the candidates of the Popular Union are Macronist candidates, because they only serve Macron”warns Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
