The presidential majority presented, Thursday, May 5, the list of the first candidates invested for the legislative elections. A first wave of 187 candidates, including ten members of Jean Castex’s government. In this “first wave” of 187 candidates, the presidential majority puts forward 94 women and 93 men. Among them are 101 outgoing deputies and 43 local elected officials.

Manuel Valls was invested by the majority in the 5th constituency of French people living abroad. An appointment that was not to the liking of the current deputy for this constituency, Stéphane Vojetta. The outgoing LREM announced that he would be a candidate for his succession, without the nomination of the presidential party “but still in support of Emmanuel Macron”. “Many of us are surprised by the nomination of Manuel Valls in the 5th constituency of French people living abroad. Me, the first”, he wrote in a press releasedenouncing “the airdrops and other upheavals of the ‘old world’.
