Saturday May 21 and Sunday May 22, Air Base 709 Cognac-Châteaubernard is celebrating. During a whole weekend takes place the Air Meeting organized by the FOSA (Foundation of Social Works of the Air) with static exhibition and the presentation in flight of military and civil aircraft, acrobatic patrols and planes of collection. After the white period linked to the pandemic and the last edition of this Air Meeting on the Cazaua base in 2019, aviation enthusiasts will be able to find their airmen and their planes.
During this Air Meeting in Cognac, many planes will meet you both in the air and on the tarmac of base 709. With the Patrouille de France, foreign patrols (Belgium, England and Croatia) nearly 100 aircraft will be on site in static or dynamic demonstrations such as the Rafale solo display, the A400M Atlas, the Belgian F-16 Solo Display, the Spanish Typhoon Solo display… a very rich program throughout these 2 days of 21 and May 22.
Organized by the Fondation des Oeuvres Sociales de l’Air, the air meeting is an opportunity to strengthen the “army-nation link” and to promote careers in aeronautics among young people.
Drones from the Cognac base in the spotlight
The last edition organized on base 709, which dates back to September 2013, that is to say for the 75th anniversary of the base, attracted nearly 20,000 people a day. For this new issue of the Meeting de l’Air, in Cognac land, the managers of the air base have planned to honor “their squadron”, the 33rd surveillance and attack squadron, specializing in the piloting of drones with flight demonstrations of the Reaper, a military drone nearly 21 meters wide.
During this meeting, a “public” area will offer visitors the opportunity to meet the staff and discover the professions of aeronautics, the air force and more broadly the Ministry of the Armed Forces, as well as stands in link with the aeronautical field, a trades forum, a simulation space and “tradition” stands of the units.
