The name of Anton Eberl (1765-1807) appeared for the majority of discophiles, like that of Joseph Martin Kraus, thanks to a disc of the Concerto Köln, through three symphonies recorded in 1999 which revealed a composer navigating between the end of the Viennese classicism and the nascent Beethovenian bubbling. In Vienna, at the beginning of the 19thand century, Eberl’s art was also a refuge for those who found Beethoven too daring (Heroic Symphony), even if Eberl followed the musical currents: early works were confused with those of Mozart, his middle creations were sometimes composed in homage to Haydn and final scores were taken for Beethoven! These quartets recorded as world premieres date from 1801, the time of the 1D Symphony of Beethoven, and are characteristic of this period of transition. We will listen to the scherzo (instead of a minuet) from 1er Quartet or the voltage of Quartet in G minor (notoh 3) especially in the Final. Discovery is exciting.
