The New Anticipalist Party (NPA) announced on Thursday May 5 that it did not intend to join the New People’s Ecological and Social Union (Nupes). This one “does not assume the political continuity of the Popular Union which led, in the context of the presidential election, Jean-Luc Mélenchon to represent a hope for a radical transofrmatoin of the situation, or else in a very ambiguous and contradictory way”writes the party in a press release.

“We could have reached an agreement with the Popular Union, the PCF, and even EELV, but we cannot validate such an agreement including the Socialist Party and on the basis of the proposals made to us”, exposes the NPA. And to conclude: “The NPA will therefore not sign the Nupes agreement.”

No constituency was offered to Philippe Poutou, the NPA candidate in the last presidential election. “We know that many left-wing activists hoped ‘see Philippe Poutou at the Assembly’, but they and they must know that at no time was a constituency proposed by the Popular Union allowing his election, or even his candidacy in Gironde “recounts the training.

As for the party line against Nupes, the NPA explains that it will make distinctions. “In any case, we will call to vote and will support, including in a militant way, the left-wing candidates breaking the Nupes, against whom we will not present candidates”, assures the party. “In other constituencies, where the conditions are met, the NPA will seek, faced with candidates labeled Nupes embodying continuity with social-liberalism, to make an alternative heard., advances the formation. For this, the NPA intends to turn to “unitary candidacies, from the world of work and working class neighborhoods, representing a fighting left, independent of institutions and social-liberalism”.
