On the eve of the return semi-final of the Europa League Football Conference in Marseille between OM and Feyenoord, seven people, five Marseille supporters and two Dutch supporters, were arrested on Wednesday May 4 in the evening, after clashes between supporters of the two camps, franceinfo learned from the Marseille police headquarters.

Small groups clashed several times in the streets of the city and the police had to intervene each time to separate them, without major incident, specifies the prefecture.

Three OM supporters were arrested for “carrying weapons by destination” and two for “transporting firework mortars”. A Dutchman was arrested in possession of a knife, another for “violence against a person holding public authority”. A Feyenoord supporter was also slightly injured during these clashes.

Earlier in the afternoon, Feyenoord supporters had targeted the police with “sporadic” throwing of projectiles in the Old Port.

In order to avoid overflows, the north corner of the Orange Vélodrome stadium will be closed for Olympique de Marseille’s last European match of the year on Thursday. UEFA announced it after the incidents between supporters during the quarter-final first leg against PAOK Salonika, Thursday, April 7 in Marseille.

Projectiles and seats had notably been thrown on the lawn of the Velodrome by Greek supporters while others threw firecrackers over the safety nets.
