The Reconquest party! far-right polemicist Eric Zemmour announced on Tuesday that he was going to present 550 candidates for the June legislative elections. The former presidential candidate did not specify whether he would be a part of it.
The political formation will present “271 candidates and 279 candidates who will wear the colors of Reconquest! everywhere during the legislative elections of June 12 and 19”, she said in a press release, signed Nicolas Bay and Guillaume Peltier, the two vice-presidents who will co-lead the campaign. The party assures having received 1,426 applications who have been “studied by the national commission of investiture”.
Of the 550 candidates selected, “176 are from the Republicans, 159 from the National Rally (and) 215 from civil society”specified Reconquête!, calling for the “general mobilization of all right-wing and patriotic voters who refuse to entrust full powers to Emmanuel Macron and Jean-Luc Mélenchon”.
No alliance with the RN
The party regrets did not receive a response to Eric Zemmour’s proposal to present a coalition of rights in the legislative elections: “Alas, neither the RN nor the LRs responded favorably to this outstretched hand and to our desire to unite for the love of France”he regretted.
However, he confirms his commitment not to submit “Reconquest candidate! in the legislative elections against Éric Ciotti (LR), Nicolas Dupont-Aignan (DLF) and Marine Le Pen (RN)”.
