The police have opened an investigation after racist insults targeting veiled women on Monday May 2 in Onet-le-Château in Aveyron, France Bleu Occitanie and France 3 Occitanie report on Tuesday May 3. These insults were uttered by a woman posing as a police inspector.

This investigation was opened after the broadcast on social networks of a video showing a woman approaching two veiled women and a third person who is filming the scene. She tells them: “It’s alright, aren’t you ashamed? You wear the hijab and you dance like that, you do [vidéos] Tik Tok? You can film me, I’m a police inspector. The cops arrive to dislodge you. We buggers and niggers don’t want it.”

The women laughingly ask her to repeat what she said and the woman complies, slamming them “put down your cackle”.

National Police commented on the video saying that “the author of these facts does not belong to the police services” contrary to what she claims. She invites “the people targeted by these remarks to approach, if they wish, the police station near their home to file a complaint”.

According to information from France Bleu Occitanie, the two victims of the verbal assault will indeed file a complaint on Tuesday. The association SOS Racisme indicated, on Twitter, to put its legal pole at their disposal to help them.
