Interviewed by France Sunday in 2019, the singer’s brother also confided that his sister Dalida had been seriously saddened by her love affair with one of the last men in her life, doctor François Naudy. An idyll that “was falling apart“according to him and who would have been”the straw that broke the camel’s back“.”He wasn’t there when he needed to be, that’s all“, he had revealed to the newspaper.

The day of her suicide – at her Parisian home on rue d’Orchampt, in Montmartre (Paris 18th century) – Dalida had ingested a large dose of sleeping pills and a glass of whiskey. Yolanda Gigliotti, her real name, was 54 years old. During Thierry Ardisson’s program, Dalida explains how much she had prepared for her suicide. “I took off my makeup, I brushed my hair and I swallowed the barbiturates” she confided, leaving only a simple word behind her: “Life is unbearable to me, forgive me“.
