Like Audrey Pulvar or Léa Salamé before, Thomas Sotto has just withdrawn from the presentation of a political program … because of his couple. The 48-year-old journalist has indeed announced his intention to withdraw from the “Elysée 2022” program launched last September on France 2, because he has a romantic relationship with Mayada Boulos, an advisor to Prime Minister Jean Castex.
“Their romance would have started this summer, but had remained secret until now ” can we read in Le Parisien. “My only consolation is to be the first man to step aside for a woman, whereas until now it was always them who were asked to stay at home ” Thomas Sotto himself admits.

Born to a father a communist militant Egyptian journalist and writer who moved to France with his wife, Mayada Boulos lived in London and Cairo before returning to Paris. After brilliant studies at La Sorbonne, she was director of communication for the Halde (the High Authority for the fight against discrimination and for equality, chaired by Louis Schweitzer), then for the Cité des sciences and the Palais de la discovery, with Claudie Haigneré.
She entered politics in 2012 when Marisol Touraine, then socialist deputy, received her to discuss in the National Assembly. Following the election of François Hollande, she became an advisor, in communication obviously, to the one who is now Minister of Social Affairs and Health.
As Le Figaro specifies, she is the mother of two children and her ex-husband took part in Emmanuel Macron’s campaign. Since July 2020, Mayada Boulos has been in charge of communications for Prime Minister Jean Castex in Matignon.
