The Socialist Party delegation “suspended” Friday, April 29 at midday the negotiations in progress with La France insoumise with a view to an agreement in the legislative elections, wrote the management of the PS in an internal message, of which franceinfo had a copy.

“Our delegation has just suspended negotiations with LFI. We want to reach an agreement between the entire left and environmentalists (…) But to achieve this, this requires a real shared logic. We must break with all hegemonic logic and accept the plurality. At this stage we do not have the guarantee of it”writes the PS.
It is indeed a suspension and not an end to the negotiations. The leadership of the PS still confirms that they want to work on an agreement. She specifies that it is to La France insoumise “to provide proof of its desire to initiate new practices”.
This decision may come as a surprise, especially since on the side of La France insoumise, a source currently participating in the negotiations speaks “rather constructive exchanges”. At the moment, “They need to get back to their base, but it’s more of a break”, explains this source to franceinfo. At the PS, however, we are talking about blockages on the European question and that of retirement.
