“Within the French Communist Party, there is no fracture. There is a desire shared by all that there is a rally of the left and environmentalists for these legislative elections”said Thursday, April 28 on franceinfo André Chassaigne, PCF deputy for Puy-de-Dôme and president of the Democratic and Republican Left group in the National Assembly, while negotiations between La France insoumises and the various left-wing parties in sight legislative elections continue. “The fact that things are slipping at the moment at the level of the negotiations does not correspond to the fierce will that is that of the communists”assures André Chassaigne.
While the national secretary of the PCF and former presidential candidate Fabien Roussel estimated that the negotiations “not moving fast enough” and called LFI to “change gear”André Chassaigne points on his side “the posture of the negotiator of rebellious France” which is, according to him, “the opposite of what is displayed” publicly. “What is displayed to public opinion is the desire for a large rally”underlines the deputy. “It is the will that there can be a majority in the National Assembly. It is the will that there can be a government with Jean-Luc Mélenchon as Prime Minister, which does not bother us.” But he believes that in the discussions between the parties, “there are regular blockages”.
André Chassaigne calls “with solemnity” to display “a desire” policy to succeed. He doesn’t want there to be “a block that would crush the other organisations”. Negotiations must take place “in mutual respect, considering that insubordinate France is indeed the dominant movement which is at the head of this gathering. This does not pose a problem”. He pleads for everyone to recognize “that there are different sensitivities, that there is a pluralism”.
“If we want to win a majority, even a relative majority within the National Assembly, we must take into account the diversities”adds André Chassaigne. “You have to take into account the programmatic contributions which may be different. You also have to take into account that in such and such a constituency, a local elected representative, someone who has fought, who is recognized, undoubtedly has more chances of to be elected than someone who is parachuted and who is not known to the territory.” The deputy of Puy-de-Dôme remains “persuaded” only with the will, “very quickly, we can come to an agreement” for the legislative ones.
