Almost two weeks after the discovery of three bodies in an apartment on rue Maberly in Amiens, the public prosecutor’s office in Amiens announces the opening of a judicial investigation against Jérôme D., the main suspect in this case. This is open on the counts of murder of a 15-year-old minor, to the detriment of his son Eliam; murder by spouse to the detriment of his partner Jennifer D.; murder preceded, accompanied, or followed by another crime against the person of his partner’s sister, Amélia.
This decision was taken after 48 hours in police custody for the 48-year-old suspect, which ended on Thursday morning.
A chronology of events that remains uncertain
After several hearings, Jérôme D. admitted to having killed his partner Jennifer D, 25 years old. This murder, by strangulation, would have taken place according to the defendant “during the weekend of April 9-10, in the context of an argument, after a strong alcoholic drink on his part“, indicates the public prosecutor of Amiens Alexandre de Bosschère.
Statements remain less explicit about the deaths of his partner’s sister, Amélia, and her 3-year-old son Eliam. : “Kept him in sight [assure] that his alcoholism and suicide attempt affected his memories. He has nevertheless admitted that he was necessarily the author of these two other homicides. According to him, they would have occurred during the day of Monday for the young Eliam and during the day of Tuesday for Amélia D.“, specifies the parquet floor, which underlines that dThe additional investigations will make it possible to specify a chronology of the facts “currently uncertain”.
Two suicide attempts by the suspect after the fact
Another fact questions the investigators: messages were sent from Jennifer’s phones on Sunday, April 10, to warn her employer that she would be absent for illness; and on Monday evening, from his girlfriend’s sister’s phone, to a friend. “But the unusual syntax suggests the suspect may have sent these messages“, says the prosecutor.
The investigation conducted by the judicial police service of Amiens, supported by the SPR of Creil, then established that Jérôme D. alone and repeatedly used Amélia’s bank card, telephone or vehicle during the days that followed. This was particularly the case for an Uber Eats order – the testimony of a delivery man confirmed that he had delivered alcohol for the sum of 43.50 euros and that the suspect had received the order outside of the establishment.
On Wednesday morning, April 13, Jérôme D. also purchased an electric nail gun from a DIY store. “It was with this tool that he attempted to commit suicide by driving 7 nails several centimeters long into his head, neck and thorax. The next morning, he again tried to kill himself by hitting a truck with Amélia’s vehicle.“, continues the Amiens prosecution. After several days of hospitalization in intensive care, the suspect was placed in police custody on Tuesday April 26 at 10 a.m.
Provisional detention was requested by the prosecution. Judges are on site at the University Hospital of Amiens this Thursday afternoon for the first appearance interrogation and the adversarial debate prior to pre-trial detention.
