Three of them have accused the 64-year-old DJ, a former BBC radio presenter, of predatory and inappropriate sexual behavior, while four others claim he assaulted them at public events, reports the Guardian.
The facts took place between 1992 and 2017, when the alleged victims were teenagers or young adults.
“Tim Westwood strongly denies accusations of inappropriate behavior,” responded a spokesperson. “In a career that spans forty years, there has never been the slightest complaint made against him, officially or not. »
The son of an archbishop, Tim Westwood began his career in local radio before moving to London, where he worked for BBC Radio 1 and became the voice of rap culture there in the 1990s.
The audiovisual group reacted in a press release, condemning “any form of inappropriate behavior” and saying it was “shocked to hear these accusations”.
Often cited as having inspired the character Ali G of British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, Tim Westwood still presents regular shows on Saturday evenings on Capital Xtra, a radio station specializing in hip-hop.
The seven women who accuse the DJ will tell what they experienced in a documentary broadcast Tuesday evening on the BBC.
