A Palestinian man shot and wounded by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank succumbed to his wounds at dawn on Tuesday (April 26th), according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, without giving more information on the circumstances of the incident. Ibrahim Oweidat, 20, was shot in the head in the Aqabat Jaber refugee camp near the city of Jericho.
Two other Palestinians were injured by gunfire when Israeli forces entered the camp overnight. The Israeli military said the incident was under review and did not comment further on the reports. But it occurs against a backdrop of tension and violence.
Since March 22, 14 people have been killed in anti-Israeli attacks. In retaliation, Israeli forces were given carte blanche to “overcome terror” and carried out operations punctuated by deadly clashes in the occupied West Bank. A total of 25 Palestinians, including attackers, died during the same period.
