Colin Standish, jurist in a law firm in Sherbrooke and spokesperson for the Exploratory Committee of Policy Options, made the announcement in a press release overnight from Monday to Tuesday.

The creation of this new party, whose official launch will take place later this spring, was born of the dissatisfaction expressed by members of the English-speaking Quebec community towards the Liberal Party of Quebec, in particular in connection with its positions in the reform of Law 101.

In a press release, the Canadian Party of Quebec affirms that it has six founding principles, namely respect for fundamental rights, “the integrity of the Canadian Constitution”, bilingualism, freedom of choice in matters of education, economic prosperity and ” reconciliation [et la] reconciliation”.

“The time has come to give a voice to the marginalized, especially to Quebecers who feel betrayed and abandoned by the CAQ and the Liberal Party of Quebec,” said Mr. Standish, spokesperson for this new provincial political party, according to that there is “a gaping void in Quebec politics […] notwithstanding the five parties currently represented in the National Assembly”.

The Parti canadien du Québec is not yet recognized by the Chief Electoral Officer, but claims to be working to complete this process soon. He states that he will field candidates in the 2022 provincial election.
