The return : Squad 99

While a very, very well-known police station has just closed its doors, another is reopening its doors! The Quebec adaptation of Brooklyn Nine-Nine takes over the TVA antenna without going through Club illico. Directed by Patrice Ouimet (Without an appointment), who succeeds Patrick Huard, this second season looks promising, if we rely on the first episode where the squad attends the birthday of the commander – not Chiasson, but – Célestin (Wildemir Normil). We also highlight the arrival of new actors: Mélissa Bédard, René Richard Cyr, Eloisa Cervantes and Isabelle Vincent. They integrate a cast of actors in great shape, which includes Mickaël Gouin, Fayolle Jean Jr, Mylène Mackay, Léane Labrèche-Dor, Guy Jodoin, Bianca Gervais, Louis Champagne and Jean-Marc Dalphond. Warning : And so on by Gabrielle Destroismaisons will be spinning in your head after the episode.

On TVA, Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m.

The documentary : White Hot: The Rise & Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch

White Hot: The Rise & Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch

As its title suggests, this documentary describes the meteoric rise – and above all the spectacular fall – of this American clothing brand, considered cool and prestigious at the turn of the 1990s and 2000s. How times have changed! Director Alison Klayman exposes the discriminatory and racist hiring practices (mainly young muscular white men were sought) of the American company, which bombarded its clientele with hypersexualized advertisements. Watching the 90-minute feature film, we realize (with relief) that such a phenomenon could not happen again today, at a time when we talk a lot about inclusiveness. Note also the presence of a soundtrack composed of pop songs that perfectly reflect the spirit of the time, including Popular, by Nada Surf, Summer Girls, of LFOs, and Oops!… I Did It Again, by Britney Spears.

Pierre Hébert, host of Matter of judgment

To end your days by putting your brain on hold, watch this quiz hosted by Pierre Hébert. Playful version of the deceased Verdict by Véronique Cloutier, it allows the viewer to watch with amusement the reaction of public figures who discover the results of polls concerning them. This second season starts with Patricia Paquin, Isabelle Racicot, Vincent Graton and Joël Legendre. It will then be the turn of Marie-Soleil Dion, Marie-Claude Savard, Philippe Laprise and Maxim Martin. Fact to note: pandemic obliges, it will be necessary to wait until June 20 to see spectators in the studio. The latter will vote directly on the spot, as provided for in the original concept. For the occasion, Sam Breton, Ève Côté, Christine Morency and Philippe Laprise will be invited.

At ICI Télé, Monday to Thursday at 7 p.m.

The roll of the dice: Melancholitis

Melancholitis

Bruno Blanchet’s singular humor has always divided people: either we love it or we hate it. The latest offering from the comedian, author and reporter is sure to elicit similar reactions. At least that’s what we see after watching his first two episodes, which depict how, after spending time in Thailand, Blanchet returns to Quebec to extricate his friend Guy Jodoin from a deep depression (he spends his days watching VHS of old sketches they did together). His stay will however be disturbed by none other than Anne-Marie Losique, who is thirsty for revenge after several years of mockery. FouKi, Guylaine Tremblay, Francis Reddy, Christian Bégin, Marc Labrèche and Georges St-Pierre also appear in the credits.

On ICI Tou.TV, from Wednesday
