Children aged 5 to 11 who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 no longer have to undergo a screening test upon their return to the country when accompanied by a doubly vaccinated adult as of today.
This change is part of a series of small relaxations announced by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) last Friday.
Screening tests for people aged 12 and over who are not doubly vaccinated will not have this privilege: they will have to continue to show their proof of vaccination once they have returned to Canada, PHAC said.
On the other hand, fully vaccinated travelers no longer have to present a quarantine plan upon arrival.
“This requirement will also be waived for children 5 to 11 years of age accompanied by a parent, step-parent, guardian or guardian who is fully vaccinated and for persons whose vaccination against COVID-19 is contraindicated for medical reasons,” it was explained.
The use of the ArriveCAN application remains mandatory for all travelers, both departing and arriving in Canada.
Wearing a mask will remain compulsory on planes and trains in the country for an indefinite period.
