United Kingdom: four people stabbed in London, a suspect arrested

Three women and a man were stabbed to death in a south-east London accommodation, and a suspect in his 20s was arrested, police said on Monday.

The victims, who apparently all knew each other, were found dead on Monday morning by police, who had been called at 1:40 a.m. (0040 GMT) for a nuisance in Southwark, a London district south of the Thames.

Inside the house, officers “made the horrific discovery of four people who had been stabbed,” said Colin Wingrove, London Police officer in charge of the area. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, they could not be revived and were declared dead on the spot.

The three women were around 60, 40 and 30 years old. The man was in his sixties.

A suspect in his 20s was arrested at the scene and taken into custody for murder, Mr Wingrove added, adding that the police were not looking for anyone else in connection with the case.

Additional police were sent to the neighborhood to reassure the population.
