After two years of cancellation due to the health crisis, rowing races, organized by the nautical club of Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne, are making a comeback this Sunday, April 24. To attend, meet from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. A free show.
Laurence de Villiers, president of the club, was looking forward to this moment and savored: “It was a great frustration. We organize these races with a lot of joy, enthusiasm, it starts again”. For this year of recovery, nearly 300 rowers of different levels are present on the Mayenne, “it happens in two parts, in the morning with races in line, lap times to allow a classification and in the afternoon the qualified will participate in the finals by categories of boats”.
Team spirit is highlighted here, “it’s not a French championship, it leaves room for conviviality. Our regattas interest competitors, leisure activities, retirees”. A day to get together and to discover this sport, which is particularly beautiful to watch, “the sensation of gliding is magical”.
