Evgeni Malkin scored twice as the Pittsburgh Penguins crushed the Detroit Red Wings 7-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Kris Letang had a goal and two assists for the Penguins, who posted a third victory in their last four games.
Sidney Crosby, Rickard Rakell and Chad Ruhwedel all finished the game with a goal and an assist. Danton Heinen completed the scoring for the Pittsburgh squad.
Casey DeSmith followed up his 52-save performance on Thursday by stopping 23 of 25 pucks aimed at him for the Penguins.
Jakub Vrana and Michael Rasmussen replied for the Red Wings, who suffered a third straight loss.
Thomas Greiss started the game for the Red Wings and allowed five goals on 23 shots. In relief, Alex Nedeljkovic yielded twice on 15 shots.

Hurricanes beat Devils in overtime

The Hurricanes players congratulated their goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov on his first NHL victory.
Rookie Seth Jarvis rocked the ropes with 3:21 remaining in overtime as the Carolina Hurricanes overcame a two-goal deficit to win 3-2 against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday.
The Hurricanes tied the game at 2-2 on goals from Brady Skjei and Nino Niederreiter in the final five minutes of the third period.
Rookie Pyotr Kochetkov made 17 saves in his first career start with the Hurricanes.
Yegor Sharangovich and Nico Hischier had given the Devils a 2-0 lead. Jon Gillies, who came within minutes of his first career NHL shutout, turned aside 26 shots in front of the Devils net. It was his first start in a month.
Jarvis sealed the game with a shot from the right face-off circle, following a fine play orchestrated by Tony DeAngelo.

Sabers’ fourth straight win

Tage Thompson scored his 37and goal of the season during the Buffalo Sabers’ second-period three-goal rush on Saturday en route to a 5-3 win over the New York Islanders.
Jeff Skinner, with his 33and goal of the campaign, recovered Thompson’s throwback with 7:20 to go to seal the game. The Sabers were hot, however, as they had just let slip a 4-1 lead in the third period.
Rasmus Dahlin, Casey Mittelstadt and Vinnie Hinostroza also hit the target for the Sabres, while former Montreal Canadiens goaltender Dustin Tokarski made 17 saves.
The Sabers thus signed their fourth victory in a row, they who know their best sequence since that of 10 wins in November 2018.
Mathew Barzal ended a 10-game goalless streak, while Noah Dobson and Kieffer Bellows completed the scoring for the Islanders.
They benefited from 30 saves by Ilya Sorokin, who is 1-3-1 in his last five starts.
