Tim Stutzle scored in the shootout and the Ottawa Senators beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 on Friday.

In the first round, Jack Roslovic and Drake Batherson missed their chances. In the second, Gustav Nyquist was stopped then Stutzle hit the mark with a sharp shot, after a clever trompe-l’oeil while wielding the stick.

Filip Gustavsson then sealed the win by frustrating Jakub Voracek with the glove.

Roslovic scored a 20and goal in the first period, but Brady Tkachuk created the deadlock with a 29and net, in the third twenty. Tkachuk leads the Senators with 61 points.

Elvis Merzlikins made 25 saves for the Blue Jackets, who were losing a fourth straight game.

Gustavsson blocked 33 shots. He was also in charge when his team won in a shootout on Tuesday in Vancouver, 4-3.

The Senators will play again Saturday night at home, against the Montreal Canadiens.
