Several members of his party reacted strongly on Twitter after the party’s national treasurer clearly posted his “support” to Emmanuel Macron, in view of the second round of the presidential election.

He expressed support “demanding and attentive” to the president-candidate who is not a “rally” to Emmanuel Macron, he assures on Twitter, but “a desire to act in dialogue with the President of the Republic to, tomorrow, turn the country around”. “If there is a little energy left in Daniel Fasquelle, he can become treasurer of the committee of licking Emmanuel Macron”notably launched the number three of LR, Aurélien Pradié, on Twitter.

To “some” of his friends, Daniel Fasquelle replies that “it was easier to pick up the phone than to launch invectives on social networks”. He specifies in particular that he had Christian Jacob, the boss of LR, on the phone to explain himself. “In terms of form, I am surprised by the reactions of some people. Basically, I simply want to tell them that I have never changed my mind. I did it five years ago. I have done this time. I clearly call, as a Gaullist, to vote for Emmanuel Macron and to block the far right.”
The mayor of Le Touqet recalls that “the party’s position is to let several voices speak inside. It has always been made clear that those who wanted to call for Emmanuel Macron to vote could do so.” Daniel Fasquelle recalls that “Christian Jacob himself said he would vote for Emmanuel Macron” and claims not to understand “the reactions of some who are losing their nerves and their composure two days before the second round of the presidential election where, for me, things are clear, Emmanuel Macron must be re-elected”.
Daniel Fasquelle claims not to have “want to leave the Republicans” but intends to want “Take into account what happened almost 15 days ago. Our candidate scored 4.8%. We cannot continue as if nothing had happened.” The Mayor of Le Touquet “does not want to take refuge in a systematic and sterile opposition, a position in which some would like to lock us up”. “Let’s listen to each other and stop the invectives”adds Daniel Fasquelle.
The treasurer of LR also ensures that there is no “worries” for party finances. “The stake is 2.5 million euros. We are quite capable, within the framework of the 2022 budget, of finding room for maneuver to help our legislative candidates.” Daniel Fasquelle ensures that “the finances of the party are not in danger today”.
