Interviewed as part of the promotion of Christophe Honoré’s new play, The Sky of Nantes, in which she plays the role of Claudie, Chiara Mastroianni confided his fears of taking the stage to journalists from the Sunday newspaper.
Daughter of Marcello Mastroianni and Catherine Deneuve, the ex-wife of Benjamin Biolay remembers with emotion her father’s passion for the theater but also her mother’s enmity for it. However, she refuses to accuse her famous mother – who is recovering from her stroke even though she came out changed – of having transmitted this fear of the stage to her. “She already gave me her hyperopia, I can’t overwhelm her with everything ! Our parents are not responsible for everything we become. We make our own mistakes, our own successes. No, it’s not my mother’s fear or fault, it’s me and my temper“, she explains kindly.
Very protective with her daughter, Catherine Deneuve was somewhat worried when she learned that Chiara was going to play in Christophe Honoré’s play. “She said something like, ‘Huh? Ah? Truly ?’ And then when I left to rehearse, she said ‘Already? That’s it ?’ I had the impression that she was afraid for me. Yet she was very happy“, confides the actress.
