Laurence Gauthier moved to organic farming in 2015 with 200 sheep and as many laying hens, on a farm that was no longer active. Originally from Poitou, she trained as an agricultural engineer.
This project where everything remains to be built, is expanding with the arrival of Benoît Lelaure, her husband, as market gardener. At about the same time, Amélie Lomont plants the first trees in the orchard and begins to produce her first summer berries. It will take two years to harvest the first fruits from the orchard.
Laurence Gauthier works in dynamic rotating pasture, the sheep feed directly in the fields. They returned for calving in February-March. The lambs are reared under the mother. Their meat is sold from June to December, directly at the farm, in packages or at retail.
The La Folie Bergère farm store sells all the farm products: meat, eggs, vegetables, fruit and even sheep wool in the form of balls, soles, plaid, stuffed with cushions! The zero waste spirit is there, since the wool that cannot be used is used to mulch trees and vegetables.
Meat and vegetables are also sold in ready meals (pâtés, rillettes, soups, sauces, jams, coulis, fruit pastes). The farm store also sells other local products.
