New twist in the Maddie affair? A suspect has been indicted in Germany at the request of Portuguese justice as part of the investigation into the disappearance of the British girl Madeleine McCann, the Portimao prosecutor’s office announced on Thursday April 21.

On May 3, 2007, while she was on vacation in Portugal with her parents, the little girl, aged 3 at the time of the incident, disappeared without a trace. This twist comes as the German authorities claim since 2020 to have evidence of the murder of little Maddie, identifying a German repeat pedophile, already in detention, as the main suspect.

The man, 30 years old at the time of the events, would have confided to an ex-girlfriend, quoted by the English tabloid The Sun (in English)that he had “a job to do in Praia da Luz”. He pursues : “A horrible job, but I have to do it, it will change my life. You won’t see me for a while.” Praia da Luz, precisely the town where Maddie and her family spent their holidays, when she disappeared.

Wanted by Interpol for drug trafficking and a rape committed in Portugal in 2005 on a 72-year-old American tourist, he was finally arrested in Milan in 2018, before being sentenced to seven years in prison in December 2019 for the rape of the tourist
