The young man involved in a fight with a plainclothes policeman in the lobby of a building in Blanc-Mesnil (Seine-Saint-Denis) files a complaint for intentional violence in a meeting under the threat of a weapon by people who hold the public authority and for racist insults, learned franceinfo Thursday, April 21 from his lawyer, master Yassine Bouzrou. The young man, wounded, “is shocked, he was punched and strangled, and he thought he was going to die,” says his lawyer.
On Tuesday, a video shot in Blanc-Mesnil showed a man, presented as a policeman, struggling with a young person in the lobby of a building. The entrance to the building was guarded by several people, including one with handcuffs on his belt and LBD on his hand, to prevent people from entering.
The young man involved “came across a policeman from the Blanc-Mesnil anti-crime brigade. This policeman made it clear to him that he wanted a violent altercation, assures master Yassine Bouzrou. He insulted him, isolated him in a building hall and beat him up”. He was “wounded in the face” and must do x-rays. “His friends couldn’t come back” to rescue him “since two other police officers stood guard in front of the building with weapons in their hands and prevented people from intervening or filming.”
After the publication of this video, the prefect of police seized the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) “for the purpose of establishing the circumstances in which the facts shown occurred”. For the moment, the precise context of the facts is not known.
The lawyer demands a “judicial investigation”. He believes that a “Administrative investigation is of no use.
