The debate between Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen was calmer than in 2017. However, there were still highlights and attacks during the exchange that took place Wednesday April 20.
For 2:50 a.m. on April 20, there was a real battle between the candidates during the debate between the two rounds. The candidate Marine Le Pen assured that the “priority absolute of the next five years is to restore to the French their money“. The candidate president, Emmanuel Macron, then retorts: “I looked at your program, your 22 measures, there is not even the word “unemployment” inside what is striking”.
After 30 minutes of exchanges, the war in Ukraine intervenes in the debate. Emmanuel Macron is offensive on his opponent’s links with Russia. “You talk to your banker when you talk about Russia”he launched to his competitor. “If I was forced to make a loan abroad, it is because no French bank wanted to grant me a loan.“, defends Marine Le Pen. On the subject of ecology, again the candidates have opposing visions. Emmanuel Macron says of the RN candidate that she is “climate-skeptic“, to which Marine Le Pen responds : “You are a climato-hypocrite”.
