(New York) The National Hockey League has announced that the draw to determine the order of selection for the top 16 picks in the first round of the 2022 draft will take place on Tuesday, May 10.

The list of participants in the draw will include all teams that will not qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, or teams that have acquired the first round pick of clubs eliminated.
Under changes made on March 23, 2021 to the draw format, only the 11 worst teams in the final standings will have the chance to be awarded the first-ever pick.
The club that finishes last in the overall standings will have an 18.5% chance of winning the very first draft pick.
Heading into Wednesday’s games, the Arizona Coyotes (22-49-5, 49 points) were ranked 32and and last in the overall standings, two points behind the Montreal Canadiens (20-46-11, 51 points), who had played one more game.
The 2022 Draft will take place at the Bell Center in Montreal on July 7 and 8. The day of July 7 will be reserved exclusively for the first round. Rounds 2 to 7 will be held the following day.
Shane Wright, a center for the Kingston Frontenacs of the OHL, ranks first among North American skaters according to National Hockey League Central Scouting. He is considered the favorite to be claimed first overall.
