For its last European match of the year at the Vélodrome, Olympique de Marseille will be deprived of its north bend. UEFA announced, Tuesday, April 19 via a press release, behind closed doors, for the semi-final return against Feyenoord Rotterdam, after the incidents between supporters which marred the quarter-final first leg against PAOK Salonika. Projectiles and seats had notably been thrown on the lawn of the Velodrome by Greek supporters while others threw firecrackers over the safety nets. A partial closure accompanied by a fine of 98,000 euros for the Marseille club (for “the lighting of fireworks, the throwing of objects and incidents in the stands” and the “blocking of public passages”.

Jorge Sampaoli’s men will therefore have to do without their loudest supporters against the Dutch, but can count on the other three stands, not affected by these sanctions. PAOK Salonika is being sanctioned with a ban on selling tickets for its next European away match, a fine of 50,000 euros and an obligation to pay OM the damage caused by his supporters.
