In Ukraine, Russia has launched its major offensive in the east of the country, in the Donbass region. Moscow claims to have carried out dozens of strikes during the night of Monday April 18 to Tuesday April 19, with particularly intense ground combat.
After artillery fire, thick black smoke is visible above the city of Rubizhne (Ukraine), Tuesday, April 19. It is one of the cities on the front line between Ukrainians and Russians, where the fighting in the Donbass is now concentrated. There are only a few dozen trapped inhabitants left here.
On the night of Monday April 18 to Tuesday April 19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the start of the major Russian offensive in Donbass. 50,000 to 60,000 Russian soldiers are gathered there, and since the night of April 18 to 19, the bombardments have intensified in several strategic areas, in particular Donetsk (Ukraine) and Lugansk (Ukraine). A city of 18,000 inhabitants has already fallen: that of Kreminna (Ukraine). In the Donetsk region, elderly people from a hospice were evacuated in difficult conditions.
