Francis Xavier of Saxony
Prince Xavier (1730-1806), younger of the house of Saxony, had a fairly eventful career. Crowned with military successes during the Seven Years’ War, he did not obtain the throne of Poland which he coveted.
Brother of Dauphine Marie-Josephe of Saxony, he was also uncle of Kings Louis XVI, Louis XVIII and Charles X, Kings Charles IV of Spain and Ferdinand IV of Naples, Empress Marie-Louise, wife of Emperor Leopold II, and King Frederick Augustus I of Saxony.
He bought many lands in Egriselles le Bocage and in the neighboring towns. For example, he built the Château de Chaumot, which has since disappeared.
