In its “Weekend soap opera”, the 20 Hours of France 2 offers an invitation for a great journey, with a run, in the middle of an incredible landscape, in the region of Ennedi in Chad.

It appears like a mirage, lost in the middle of the Sahara desert. The Ennedi massif, a succession of spectacular rock pythons, in the far east of Chad. In this particularly inhospitable setting, a foot race is held, reputed to be a one-of-a-kind adventure. 200 km in the sand, in the middle of the canyons, and under the sun. This year, they are about twenty to take up the challenge, almost all French. Most are used to this kind of test.

A base camp was created for them, in the middle of the desert. It is here that they will come to regain their strength every night. Jean-Philippe Allaire, a former marathon runner, created this trail in 2014, after a trip to the region. The first stage is one of the shortest, 28 km. To find one’s way in this immensity, everyone has a GPS on their wrist, you have to constantly check the direction. The most technical stage is in the middle of the Oyo labyrinth.
