The group Arcade Fire will perform on Friday July 29 at the Osheaga festival, the first evening of the 15th edition of the event, which will be held until Sunday July 31.
The Osheaga team made the announcement Friday on Twitter and on its website.

“When the Foo Fighters unfortunately had to cancel their presence, it was crucial for us to program a band that had special meaning for our local music lovers, and which would also attract a large number of fans from all over the world”, is — he writes on the website. “Our thoughts remain with our friends in the extended Foo Fighters family during this difficult time,” the post concludes. The rock band’s drummer, Taylor Hawkins, died earlier this year after taking opiates.
Other headliners for the 15th edition are rapper A$AP Rocky, performing on Saturday; and British pop diva Dua Lipa, closing on the 31st.
The Montreal group had been one of the headliners of the Osheaga festival in 2010, as the closing show.
Arcade Fire will release their new album WE on May 6, a sixth in his career.
