Crackdown among antivax. German justice announced, Thursday, April 14, the arrest of four members of a far-right network in the movement of opponents of the rules relating to Covid-19 who were considering “violent attacks” in Germany and kidnappings of “public figures“.
Social Democrat Health Minister Karl Lauterbach was among their targets. He denounced minority extremists “but very dangerous”. This “shows not only that the protests against the anti-Covid rules have become more radical, (…) but that in the meantime they are attempts to destabilize the state”he reacted during a press briefing.
The suspects, arrested the day before during extensive searches, had notably planned to attack the electricity networks to provoke “a long-lasting power outage throughout the territory”which would have, in their minds, created the conditions of one “civil war”.
Authorities had been investigating the group, their founders and supporters in several parts of the country since October 2021. During Wednesday’s raid, they notably seized firearms and ammunition, gold bars and silver coins, currencies worth more than 10,000 euros, as well as mobile phones, false vaccination certificates against Covid-19, or even several documents written on their plans to overthrow the state.
