It was probably the worst kept secret in the entire NCAA. Quebecer Bennedict Mathurin announced Wednesday evening that he was leaving the University of Arizona Wildcats to make himself eligible for the next NBA draft.

Mathurin posted a message on his social media explaining his decision and that he treasured his time in Arizona.
“The city of Tucson has been fabulous for me and the best fan base in the world has welcomed me with open arms,” he said.
The 19-year-old is coming off a standout season, despite his top-seeded team’s early elimination in the sectional semi-finals at March Madness. He is a top prospect for professional teams. Mathurin proved it especially in his team’s second round game when he scored 30 points against TCU University.
“My dream has always been to play in the NBA and I choose to pursue my path in this direction. »
According to experts, the Montrealer could be selected among the first 10 choices, or even among the first five of the 2022 NBA auction.
He averaged 17.7 points per game last season.
