COP26: small countries attract the attention of the big powers

The COP26 was an opportunity for small delegations to make their voices heard by the representatives of the great world powers. These small countries are the first to be affected by the environmental crisis. The representatives of the indigenous populations of Brazil were present in Glasgow, to bear witness to the deforestation which affects their daily lives. “Our houses are set on fire”, testifies a representative.

Usually relegated in the background, certain countries marked the spirits during this COP26: “More than two million of my compatriots are facing famine linked to the climate crisis”, says Elizabeth Wathuti, a Kenyan environmental activist. The President of Seychelles was also present to encourage his delegation. “What matters is that we are listened to here, even a small country, so thank you all and good luck”.
