That’s what we call, a local child. Éloïse Buffet has always lived in Brittany and her first waves, it is on the beach of Guidel (Morbihan) that she takes them. Today she opened her surf school, La Torche Surf Schoolwith his brother Aurélien and the apprentice surfers are there.
Éloïse Buffet, her thing is surfing: “I’ve been surfing for 16 years. I started with my family in Guidel and then with my brother we went to train at the hope pole at the tip of La Torche.”
A little girl’s dream come true
And she has her little level: “I did a lot of competitions. I was champion of Morbihan and several times champion of Brittany.” This school is a child’s project that comes true “I’ve always been linked to surfing, since I was little I had the idea in mind of setting up a surf school. Today I’m super happy, it’s super cool!”launches the young woman all smiles.
But there is no question of remaining a simple classical school. During her journey, Éloïse noticed something: she was not surrounded only by surfers : “I’ve been doing sports since I was 8 and I’ve only had a female surf instructor once otherwise I’ve only had instructors. I’ve been in lessons where there was no than boys.”
A course reserved for women to see surfing differently
Result this year: the Breton has just launched, since Monday, a surfing course exclusively reserved for women until the end of the week. Barely posted on social networks, the idea seduced. To the point that the 8 places are reserved in record time. But Éloïse counts well renew the experience.
For the surfer, it was important to offer another facet of her favorite sport and to offer the possibility of doing “recreational surfing“. And for that, she concocted a menu with small onions: “We’re not just going to do surfing because I think it’s good to diversify. There will be 5 surf lessons, a video analysis, a brunch, two yoga lessons and a local visit. It’s interesting to linking surfing and yoga for example because it allows you to do an introspection where you take the time to stretch, to rest,…”
I want to present things differently – Eloise Buffet
The Breton specifies that, if everyone is different, she has often observed a more competitive atmosphere among men : “Many are performance-oriented. I want to focus my lessons on pleasure, zero pressure. We are here to have a good time in the water rather than wanting to surf the biggest wave or go and put in the biggest manoeuvre.”
Share your passion
Éloïse Buffet is generous, and she wants above all to share and discover her passion: “What I love about surfing is the feeling of relaxation, of being cut off from the rest of the world when you’re in the water. And even if it’s a sport where you’re all alone on the wave, it remains a moment of sharing ; you can tell others about the wave you just took. I’m always super happy to go in the water!”
The courses are obviously open to all: “In my classes there are people who have never surfed and others who already glide well. We have the right equipment for everyone so that everyone can have fun on the water. In short, you can come even if you think you are past the age to learn to surf!”, concludes with a smile Eloise.
