The magazine “Les Explorateurs” and the organization Mission 1000 tons announced on Sunday the launch of the second edition of the youth challenge 1000 gestures for nature.
The project involves involving children, parents and teachers in concrete actions to protect the environment and nature.
From April 18 to 24, Canadian children are invited to pick up litter from their environment and weigh and photograph it before registering on the project website “www.1000gestespourlanature.com”.
For each gesture posed and weighed by a child, the organization Mission 1000 tons undertakes to remove 1 kg of waste from rivers and oceans.
“Last year, young people responded with great enthusiasm to the challenge. Some even continued to clean up afterwards. Clearly, they have the environment at heart and are ready to put their shoulder to the wheel to make a difference,” said Claudia Morissette, editor-in-chief of the magazine.Explorers“.
“With more than 6,000 actions taken during the first edition of the challenge, 6 tons of waste were removed from the oceans thanks to the children. A success that speaks volumes about the desire of young people to do their part in the fight against climate change,” mentioned Jimmy Vigneux and Lyne Morissette, founders of Mission 1000 tonnes.
