He is the living legend of Breton music. On the occasion of his 50-year career, Alan Stivell will be on stage alongside a symphony orchestra in Paris, Friday April 8.

A few crystalline notes on his Celtic harp, Alan Stivell, played Thursday April 7 in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine). “He’s a legend, he’s the one who really brought Celtic music to its current level”, says one of his fans. At 78, the artist also celebrated an anniversary: the 50th anniversary of a legendary concert he gave at the Olympia. In 1972, the French discovered the young artist inspired by Breton tradition. “For me the most important thing was to succeed in converting the great mass of Bretons to their own culture, to their own music. The day they saw that Parisians could love their own music, they said to themselves ‘that’s amazing'”Alan Stivell said in an interview at the time.

It’s a successful mission for Alan Stivell, who knew how to combine the Celtic harp with the electric guitar. “It’s almost the end of my career but I still have other projects to finish”, he confides. Among these projects, a tour and an event concert on Friday April 8, in Paris on the stage of the Salle Pleyel.
