After the bombardment which destroyed the railway station of the city, Friday April 8, the inhabitants decided to flee by the roads. Volunteer drivers help them cross the country.

In Kramatorsk (Ukraine), buses have replaced trains. Since the stations are threatened, buses and vans take over. Terror has gripped the inhabitants since the missile strike on the station on Friday, April 8. A blind violence, symbolized by images of frightened travellers. Deserted stations and bloody trains, the inhabitants of Kramatorsk have no choice but to flee. A new life elsewhere, and heartbreaking farewells with his infants for a policeman who must stay.

“It was the fifth time yesterday [vendredi ndlr.] that our house was shaking because of the shelling and it’s also night when we sleep”, recalls a little girl. The drivers, equipped with bulletproof vests, take these civilians away for free. “All these bus drivers are volunteers . They will cross dozens of checkpoints to reach the west of the country, but agree to take these risks to save lives,” explains Maryse Burgot, correspondent in Ukraine.
