France: who won the last presidential election?
During the second round of the last presidential election, voters elected Emmanuel MACRON (LREM) as President of the Republic in France, credited with 66.1% of the votes cast. In doing so, no difference was observed with its result in France. The FN candidate Marine LE PEN was credited with 33.9% of the vote. She has moved up 16 points since her 2012 bid.
What were the trends in France during the first round of the last presidential election?
Emmanuel MACRON was already in the majority on the evening of the first round in France with 24.01% of the vote, against 21.3% for Marine LE PEN. It seems that the candidate La République En Marche also had better vote reserves, since he obtained 12,086,782 more votes than in the previous round, while his opponent Front National only collected 2,959,984 from more.
On the occasion of the first round, the center right had finished in first position and had received 24.01% of the vote. The extreme right, credited with 21.3% of the votes, had been in second place. Thanks to 20.01% of the votes cast, the right was ranked third. The radical left won the approval of 19.58% of voters. 6.36% of voters had voted left. Sixth place went to the sovereignist right, which managed to mobilize 4.7% of voters. The independent forces, with 2.31% of the votes, had been in seventh position. The far left candidates had collected a score of 1.73%.
Did voters in France mobilize for the last presidential election?
The participation rate recorded in the country stood at 74.56% in 2017. This corresponded to a drop in mobilization of 3.21 points compared to that of the previous round.
In 2012, 37,016,309 registered voters out of 46,066,307 went to vote, representing a participation rate of 80.35%. This result was higher than that of the first round (79.48%).
