(Las Vegas) Brad Gushue’s Canadian team will face Korey Dropkin’s American team on Saturday night in the semifinals of the World Men’s Curling Championship in Las Vegas.

Dropkin joined Canada in the semi-finals with a 6-4 win over Kyle Waddell’s Scotland in the qualifying round early in the day at Orleans Arena.
Gushue’s foursome, from St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, received a direct bye to the semifinals after finishing atop the round robin standings.
Defending champion Sweden received the other direct bye to the semi-finals finishing second in the standings. Captain Niklas Edin’s quartet will face Italy, led by Joël Retornaz, who crushed Yannick Schwaller’s Switzerland 10-4 in the qualifying match.
The medal round will take place on Sunday.
