The magazine “8:30 p.m. on Saturday” (Twitter)presented live by Laurent Delahousse just after the 8 p.m. news on France 2, recounts an unprecedented moment in the life of a personality, behind the scenes of an event or a place belonging to collective history. Reports that reveal “the little story in the big one”, to leaf through like a family album. This new issue of season 4 of “8:30 p.m. on Saturday” tells the power of rock’n’roll, from East Berlin before the fall of the Wall to the Parisian nights of the Bus Palladium…
The day when > Bruce Springsteen and the Berlin Wall
Did Bruce Springsteen’s concert in East Berlin on July 19, 1988 contribute to the fall of the Wall? This is far from a wild assumption. In 1988, East German youth lived under a glass roof and could no longer bear the deprivation of freedoms. The authorities of the German Democratic Republic, aware of this time bomb, decide to let go of some ballast and authorize a concert by Bruce Springsteen. He is certainly American, but he is above all the emblem of the working class, therefore “compatible” with the regime. When the Boss arrives in East Berlin, he is tightly controlled by the Stasi, but he will thwart the traps and manage to utter a few very political words…
And also, a temple of rock, music at the heart of war…
News > One last trip to Bus Palladium
It was one of the temples of rock in Paris: the Bus palladium definitively closed its doors a few days ago, after feverish nights in the capital for more than fifty years. A special club, born in the 1960s, from a daring idea: to mix all social backgrounds, the rich and the poor, without selection or dress code at the entrance… James Arch, its founder, even idea of chartering a bus to pick up and bring back young people from the suburbs. This is where a whole generation discovered rock’n’roll… Let’s go for a last trip to the Bus in the company of Salvador Dali, Telephone and many others…
