Woman stabbed Friday night succumbs to her injuries

The young woman in her twenties, stabbed Friday in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough, succumbed to her injuries a few hours later.

The tragedy took place around 7 p.m. on Aylwin Street. “Arrived on the scene, the police located a woman in her twenties who was assaulted at least once in the upper body with a stab,” said officer Jean-Pierre Brabant, of the City Police Department. of Montreal (SPVM).

She was taken back to the hospital, where she died a few hours later. It would be the fifth murder of the year having taken place on the territory of Montreal.

According to information from the Journal, the suspect, Jerry Avril, is a 32-year-old man known to the police and who has around thirty files to his credit. He was quickly arrested near the scene of the event.

He was charged last December for a history of armed assault that occurred in a marital context.
