Salins-les-Bains: salt water with many virtues
Two hundred million years agothe region of Salins-les-Bains – in the heart of the Jura – was covered by the sea. As it evaporated, the water deposited a layer of rock salt very rich in trace elements, gradually buried under layers of sediment. Alpine folding, by digging faults in these successive layers, allowed water to infiltrate and circulate in the original salt.
These are the waters, collected by the Cordeliers well at a depth of nearly 150 meterscalled sodium chlorides, that is to say very concentrated in salt, and rich in trace elements such as potassium, magnesium and calcium which now offer all their benefits during treatments.
Water from the well in Muyre, less salty than those used for care, supply the pools in the relaxation area.
