Randall Jeannot, 19, was apprehended Thursday evening by the East Criminal Investigation Section of the Montreal Police Service. He is due to appear Friday at the Montreal courthouse to face 16 charges, including attempted murder, discharging a firearm and robbery.

On April 2, 2022, the victim, a 26-year-old man, showed up around 7 p.m. at an address on rue Tellier, in the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, to buy a phone sold on the Kijiji platform.

After noting that the seller (the suspect) is absent and does not reside at the address provided, the victim turns back. It is at this moment that Randall Jeannot, armed, threatens him in the middle of the street and orders him to give him his money and his cell phone.

In the altercation, the suspect shoots in the direction of the victim, hitting him in the chest. She managed to escape and survived.

Investigators arrested the suspect at a dwelling a few blocks from the crime scene. A loaded handgun was also seized at the scene.

Randall Jeannot is not only appearing in connection with this case. The young man is also accused of four armed robberies which occurred on March 10, 19, 22 and 23.
