Novelist, journalist and historian Micheline Lachance has passed away. She leaves a bequest of nearly twenty books, including several stories by great Quebec personalities.
Its publisher, Éditions Québec Amérique, confirmed the news on Thursday.
Micheline Lachance has authored some twenty books during her career as a writer. With Quebec tattooed on her heart, she wrote several books on great people from here, including Cardinal Léger, Brother André and Julie Papineau, wife of patriot Louis-Joseph Papineau.
“Putting women at the forefront of my novels is a political and feminist gesture. Women, in our history, have been very influential, but this fact is largely unknown, ”she confided during her visit to the major interviews a few years ago.
In 2017, her work as a historian earned her a medal for her contribution to history from the Société historique de Montréal.
She has also worked for several years as a journalist working for News, Chatelaine, Quebec-Presseamong other publications.
His latest, more personal novel was published in 2021. This final text, Don’t wake the sleeping sorrowis inspired by his job as a journalist in the 1980s.
