In Berlin (Germany)the shelves of three supermarkets were robbed on Monday 4 April. Flour and sunflower oil were stored by the Germans, before an announced price increase. The price of a packet of crisps has already increased by 25%, that of mineral water by 31% and that of pasta by 22%. The war in Ukraine has caused the price of raw materials to soar in Lagriculture and industry, which is reflected in the store.

“Traders only earn 2,3,4 cents on every euro they take in, so they don’t have a lot of wiggle room. However, the increase in the price of raw materials is not 3%, nor 13%, but sometimes 40%“, indicates Thomas Roeban economist at the University of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg.
